Byker Primary School

Week beginning 28.9.20

Morning boys and girls,

I hope that you have had a lovely weekend. The rain stopped for us all so, hopefully you were able to spend some time outside in the fresh air. Autumn is certainly here. Time to wrap up warm!

This week brings another week of fantastic online learning activities. Try your best, take breaks (think Gooooo Noodle!) and have fun!

I cannot wait for us to be back together in the classroom next week! For now we have to remember how important it is for us all to remain safe and stop the spread of this terrible virus. You should feel proud that you are doing your bit to keep everyone safe and well.

Take care and keep smiling smiley I am very proud of you all.

After the rain, there is always sunshine!

Everyday, try to read a few pages of a book that you enjoy. You could read to someone in your family. Find a time in the day that works for you. It could be in the morning when you are ready to start your day or maybe before you go to bed. Spend no longer than 10 minutes.

Spelling, punctuation and grammar

Writing the story Stone Age Boy

If you are not a wizard, today you are going to write up your own story problem in sentences using the plan you made yesterday. Use the word card to help you include some brilliant writing features.

Mental Maths

Look at the examples of artwork by Andy Goldsworthy.

Write down any questions that you have and discuss these with a member of your family.

For example

Are the stones stuck together or balanced?

How did he draw the line on the stones? What did he use to do this?

Then, read through the information on Stone Age homes and choose a settlement (home) that you would like to construct over the coming weeks.

Using last week's plan, can you make your Stone Age tool?

Are there any stones and twigs you could gather and use from your garden?

Have fun!

Keep moving, you CAN do it!
