PE is taught by our in house PE Specialist Mr J Danquah. He teaches pupils from Pre-School to Year 6 throughout the week. They learn a wide range of skills from team sport, cycling, dance and movement, whilst developing an understanding for Healthy Eating and effects exercise can have on our bodies.
We have links with Newcastle Foundation and Newcastle Eagles to further develop a love of sport across school.
We have developed our swimming curriculum to ensure that by the end of Year 4, pupils have the skills to swim. This offer has been developed alongside Byker Community Pool.
We have sports clubs running Monday-Friday after school. Please look out for further details in letter sent home and Parent Mail. Our sports clubs are subsidised through our PE & Sport Premium to allow as many pupils access to activities as possible. Please see our PE &Sports Premium page for further information on how this is spent across school.
We run a variety of extra-curricular clubs during lunchtime and after school for children in Years 1 - 6. The choice of club changes termly and children have the opportunity to sign up to a new club at the start of each term. We aim to provide a range of clubs that will appeal to different children so that every child can find a club that interests them. Examples of clubs include: Dodgeball, Portuguse club, Gymnastics, Football Clubs for all ages, Lego & ICT Club, Byker Brothers, Byker beats singing club, Glee Club, Film Club and many more.
In order to provide the children with opportunities to attend inter-school competitions, we run clubs in co-operation with our partner from across Newcastle City. We also work with external organisations such as Newcastle United Foundation, Newcastle Falcons Rugby, Newcastle Eagles and Newcastle Music Service in order to provide a wider variety of extra-curricular activities.
