New to Nursery 2024

Welcome to our 'New Nursery Starters' page for parents and carers.  We hope that you find all of the information here to help your child have a happy and successful start at Byker Primary School. Starting school is such an important time for each child and we will do all we can to help you and your child feel welcome, confident and excited about this new adventure.

In order to support this transition from Pre-School into Nursery, we will be holding Parent Welcome meetings which will focus on talking you through everything you will need to know about Byker Primary School, the arrangements for the start of September and useful information on details such as uniform, lunches and PE days. There will also be a separate opportunity for you and your child to visit the classroom and meet their class teacher.

Throughout this time, we will communicate with you via this webpage and Tapestry. We will also add to this page with stories from class teachers and more photos, so please keep checking in!

Over the next few weeks, we will make every effort to visit all of the children at their Nursery, so we can be a familiar face and also have conversations with each child's key worker.

On this page, there is a short video showing a Day in Nursery and lots of photographs. These may be useful to share with your child so they can begin to feel familiar with their new school.

At any point through this process, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or the office and we will be happy to help.
