Because Year 6 are studying The Highway Man, Author Adam Bushnell focused on spooky settings and storytelling. The children created a spooky setting and thought about different figurative language that could be used to describe it. To finish, they told their stories under the tables with torches to add to the drama!
Reception has been learning about seasons and change. This week they went on an Autumn Walk around the local area.
This week, Reception have been working on selecting the correct resources to complete a specific task, as well as working in teams. There were 3 tasks set. They were: create a parachute, bridge or house to protect an egg and see if they are stable enough to stop the egg cracking. Within our teams, we had access to lots of different resources and had to decide between ourselves what we thought was going to work and what we didn't. The children had so much fun when we experimented to see if our designs were successful.
Reception have been learning all about Bonfire night and the history of Guy Fawkes, and to celebrate it in school, we made our very own chocolate sparklers. The children were able to follow the step-by-step instructions to make their sparklers and then got to eat them! They were described as delicious, crunchy and even tasted like an ice cream cone!
Over half term and the following weekends, ENACT will be running their ‘Around the World Club’ sessions at the Great North Museum, where kids can come along to learn about different cultures through crafts and share with their families in a welcoming community space. It will be hosted in the Clore Learning Centre (see attached map for more info), and the sessions will be run as follows:
28th October, 10am-4pm Learn to craft Yalda Postcards, Afghan Kites, and Dia de Muertos-inspired paper masks.

These sessions will be free, and families are encouraged to drop by between the above times to join in and there will be free refreshments! We feel this would be a fun opportunity for the kids to get out and learn something new, as well as meet other families from similar backgrounds.
Thank you to all who attended the Halloween Disco and supported the fundraising opportunity for Year 6 pupils. It was great to see so many pupils dressed up, having a spooky time with friends and staff.
In today's Year 6 science lesson, the pupils took part in an investigation to explore what happens to our heart rate after exercising!
They firstly measured their pulse for a minute when resting and then measured it again after taking part in 3 different exercises! Their heart rates increased to over 100 beats per minute!
Year 3 have been looking at the form, function and features of castle playing around with castle design before completing thier own designs and castle builds.
Year 3 have had their Geographical Study investigating coastal erosion at Tynemouth. There was also time to fit in some time to play in the sand.
We are developing a real focus on the creation of new Outdoor play spaces for our children across school. This has included developing gymnastics sections, scooter zones, and construction areas.
We are seeking any donations to support the growth of this via drainpipes, large plastic tubing, plastic football nets, wooden planks, plastic crates, role play dressing up ages 6 years upwards, space hoppers, large spinning tops and mud kitchen equipment.
All donations welcomed and can be handed in to the main school office
