‘Family Fit Byker!’ is a free 28-Day Family Fitness Challenge open to all families of pupils and staff of Byker Primary School taking place between May 1st and May 28th 2021.
As the country’s lockdown eases, we want family groups from Byker to challenge themselves, and each other, to a series of four Challenge Activities designed to help everyone move more, eat healthier and become more resilient.
What are the Challenge Activities?
Over the 28 days we want families to take part in these four challenges:
Challenge 1 - Byker Wall to Hadrian’s Wall’ Challenge
We’re challenging families to walk, jog, run, cycle or just exercise an average ‘Daily Distance’ of 3 additional miles or 7,500 additional steps per day across the 28 days in order to walk the virtual length of Hadrian’s Wall (73 miles)!! See below for how to measure, record and celebrate your ‘Daily Distance’ achievements.
Challenge 2 – ‘JG Family Fitness Challenge’
Free access to 5 x 20-minute ‘live streamed’ activity classes per week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, led by JG Fitness.
Challenge 3 – ‘Friday Fakeaway’ Challenge’
A weekly opportunity to replace the well-known and popular Friday family ‘takeaway’ by preparing delicious healthy and inexpensive alternatives with the help of guest chefs!
Challenge 4 – ‘Mental Fitness Family Challenge’
An opportunity to follow our daily online Vlog to support every family’s ‘Mental Fitness’ exploring weekly themes looking at the journey we’re currently on, how to take action as a family team and embracing our future.
