It's the last day before the Christmas holidays! We just want to say how proud we are of you all, you have all tried so hard this term and you have done some amazing work. Have fun during you time off and we can not wait to hear all about it when we come back in January.
There are a couple of tasks for you to have a go at and keep busy today, remember do what you can and have fun!

Guided reading
Can you put the story in order? use the PowerPoint to talk to someone you live with about the story and as a challenge can you draw a storyboard for the Jolly Christmas Postman?
Phonics
The sound we are going to be learning today is 'ir' (it whirl and twirl). Remember to have magnet eyes and use your Fred talk and fingers. You will need some paper and a pencil for some spelling.
Maths
Today, you will be comparing groups of objects. You will need a pencil and paper to answer the questions on the powerpoint.
P.E
We love Cosmic Kids Yoga in our class, here is a special Christmas episode for you to have a go at home with. have fun!

Good morning year 1, we hope you are all well. We hope you did your tasks yesterday and we can not wait to see your Nutcracker pictures.
Today we have a few more activities for you including phonics, maths, guided reading and some science.

Guided reading
Today we have some question to answer about the text before your main task which is to think of different describing words for Santa's workshop in the story. If you want a challenge and make your work extra spicy could you write a sentence describing the workshop including a capital letter, full stop and finger spaces.
Phonics
Today, you will read and write words containing the 'ow' (blow the snow) sound. Make sure you are using your Fred talk and Fred fingers when reading and spelling words. You will need some paper and a pencil for the spellings.
Maths
Today's maths lesson focuses on one more and one less of a number to 20. You will need a pencil and some paper to answer the questions on the power point. We know how amazing you all are at counting!
Science
Watch this lesson all about the difference between vertebrates and invertabrates. Can you tell the difference between them?

Good morning all!! We are so sad that we can not see you all today but we hope you are all nice and warm at home. Today we have some activities for you to have a go at.
Phonics
Have a go at these phonics games, there are somewhere you can practice your Fred talk and others where you need to sort out your real and alien words. Have a go at phase 3 sounds and if you want a challenge have a go at some Phase 5 sounds.
Guided reading
We started our new story on Monday 'The Jolly Christmas postman' we have a fun activity for you to have a go at. Have a watch of Santa reading the story to help you remember what happened then have a go at the activities on the documents below. Have a think about the parts of the story you liked and didn't like.
Maths
For this lesson, you will need a piece of paper and a pencil. Can you recognise the numbers to 20?
Art
Have a go at this step by step Christmas picture, I would love to see how you get on. Bring in your creations when we are back at school for a dojo. I am going to even have a go at drawing it (I shall show you how I get on later!) click on the link below.

This half term in Art we have been learning about Rangoli art and where it comes from. We have enjoyed looking at different Rangoli patterns and creating our own designs. Today we used different beans and pasta to create some amazing patterns.
Tuesday 30th November 2021
Today we went on a 2D shape hunt around school. We had a wonderful time exploring shapes and were very excited to see them on our walk around school. We have been using some key words in our discussion.
Wednesday 24th November 2021
This week we have been exploring 3D shapes! We have been naming different 3D shapes and sorting them into groups and we even we exploring around our classroom and school to see what different 3D shapes we could find. We have had so much fun this week. I wonder what different 3D shapes you can find around your house or while you are out and about I can't wait to hear about what you find.
Monday 15th-Friday 19th November 2021
This week was Anti-Bullying week and Children in need. We had lots of fun talking about how we are all different and how to be kind to others around us. On Friday we had fun making our own Pudsey masks and dressing up.
Wednesday 10th November 2021- Exploring subtraction.
1.4 have been working their socks off in maths this week! We have been exploring subtraction using part whole models and even writing number sentences. Yesterday we looked at fact families and solved word problems. Year 1 have some amazing mathematicians.
Wednesday 3rd November 2021- Trying different Indian foods
This half term we are focusing on India and we started off by taste testing some different foods. We tried Naan bread, poppadoms, rice, mango chutney, raita dip and chapati. We really liked some of the foods and had great fun.
Wednesday 20th October 2021
Our trip to the Quayside.
Before half term we went on a fantastic trip to the Quayside to finish off our topic about our local area. We walked along the Quayside, taking pictures and sketches of the local landmarks. We even got to see the Millennium bridge move for some boats, it was very cool! After that, we went up the the viewing platform in the Baltic art gallery and then drew another field sketch of the Baltic.
