Thursday 16th December
Good morning everyone, we are nearly at the end of term and I hope you are having lots of fun getting into the Christmas spirit.
Below are today's activities.
Maths: Can you draw a Christmas picture using he shapes we know?
Topic: Read 'A festive feast' with your grown up. Can you design a Christmas dinner you would like to have?
Phonics: Listen to the tricky word song. Can you write the tricky words?
Wednesday 15th December
Good morning Reception, hope you are all keeping safe and warm. This is not how we planned our last week of term but hopefully you find these activities fun and Chritmassy.
Please complete the work on any paper you have. You could even upload your finished work to Tapestry for us to see.
Phonics: The children will know whose phonics group they are in, scroll to that page and complete the activity.
Maths: Get creative and go on a shape hunt. I wonder what you will find?
Topic: Re-read 'Cookie's Christmas Invention' and become an amazing inventor elf.
Story link: Why not enjoy your snack alongside a story, just like we do in school!
Have a wonderful day!
Miss Mackay and Miss Bell
W/B Monday 22nd November
This week we have been having lots of fun looking at our key text 'Stickman'. We have read it, drew characters, designed a flag and even acted out scenes!
Now the weather is getting colder, why not snuggle up together and watch our stick man story. Can the children re-tell it?
We would love your help to enhance the children's learning at home. We have attached some links below to help.
W/B Monday 8th November
WOW, what a busy week we have had in Reception! From introducing our new key text, Stickman, to Remembrance day.
Maths
In Maths we have been learning number bonds (best friends) to 5. We have used 5 frames and our fingers to support us. We have even made a GIANT 5 frame and used ourselves as human counters. The children loved it!
Continuous Provision
We have been looking at counting and recognising the numbers on the Maths table. Our creative activity this week has been to create an autumnal picture using different stages. Miss Bell took some of us on an Autumn walk on the BIG yard to collect lots of Autumn materials to build our minibeast small world area where we used magnifying glasses to examine all of the different insects. In the construction area, we used the stickle bricks and sticks and balls to build stickman and his house. The malleable area this week has been threading pasta onto pipe cleaners creating branches for stickman's treehouse.
Remembrance Day
We learnt about Remembrance Day and the importance of showing our respects. The children were really enthusiastic and as a cohort we observed the 2minute silence. We also created our own Poppy's using clay and made beautiful remembrance day pictures.
A celebrity visit...CHARLIE MYERS!
On Tuesday, we had a pole vault athlete visit us. We completed 4 exercises and he showed us two of his poles he uses. The children loved it and some of us even got to have a go! We really appreciate all of your donations, they will help towards new sports equipment.
