Hello again Year 4,
Did you know tomorrow is VE day? What do you guys know about VE day? Has anyone been making decorations or planning to have their own little self isolation party? We have all been involved with self isolation parties over the past few weeks. It is actually great fun and a great way to keep in touch with the people we love via the internet! We are so lucky to have such advanced technology!
VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) marks the day towards the end of World War Two (WW2) when fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe came to an end. On 8 May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill made an announcement on the radio at 3pm that the war in Europe had come to an end, following Germany's surrender the day before. Many people were extremely happy that the fighting had stopped and there were big celebrations and street parties. Did you know most people had not seen their loved ones since they left for war. Sadly, they didn't have the internet back then!
We are sure when we are all out of isolation we will be celebrating too! We have added in some activities you might like to complete for VE day.
1. Mark yesterdays maths (10 minutes)
2. Complete one maths activity. Today they are all in one
document. Activity 1 is first and is one question per
page. Activity 2 is the final page and it is a little more tricky.
3. Reading Activity - Dream-Giver Questions (20 minutes)
4. VE day Activities
Good luck with today's tasks. We hope you enjoy them! Stay safe and keep smiling!
