Byker Primary School

Hello Year 5!smiley How are we all today? What have you been up to? I understand it may be tricky for you to actually let us know, but please know that this is something that Mr Thacker and I are always wondering and we hope you are managing to keep busy and still have fun at home! It has been great to see the cool things some of you have been up to on the Byker Books page!

I hope you have had a good weekend! This weekend, I baked a lovely lemon cake, did some gardening and finished the book I have been reading (I aim to read one book a week!) and I have managed this every week so far! Perhaps this is something you could try too and we could discuss it when we are back to school? Maybe you could get your brothers and sisters involved and read to them? Miss Ruffmanyes

You will find your work for today down below.

For your Maths task today we are focusing on multiples and factors.

Top tips

  • For example: Multiples of 9 = the numbers in the 9 times table (9, 18, 27 etc.).
  • FACTORS usually come in pairs. So, for factors of 20, I need to think about which times tables have the number 20 in (1 and 20, 2 and 10, 4 and 5).
  • When you are asked for common factors of two numbers, remember those are the factors which are in BOTH times tables - You could write a factor lists for each number and circle the numbers which appear in both!
If a question says 'lowest common factor,' you just need to find the smallest common number in both lists.

Please spend no more than 45 minutes on this task. Good luck!

English task
