Chief Medical Officer Sir Chris Whitty visits Byker Primary School to further understand the implications of Health services on Educational settings, pupils and families of Byker.
Byker Primary School Mini Cadets were nominated alongside a further 6 volunteer groups as part of the Pride of policing Awards 2023.
Due to the continued community support and volunteering commitments demonstrated by Byker Primary School mini cadets, they won the Young Volunteers of the Year award 2023.
The Year 4 pupils had an educational experience linked to Science. They got to learn and discover all about Living Things and their Habitats.
The children looked at Habitats from around the world: including tropical rainforests, deserts, polar regions and oceans. This hands-on workshop looks at three great survivors and considers how they survived.
I think you will agree Year 4 were very brave to be hands on in their learning.
The children across Year 5 had the privilege to become part of and review the rehearsals for the new Christmas Show Cinderella-A fairy-tale to be performed over the festive season at Northern Stage. The pupils met the cast and the Director Jake Smith to hear about and talk about the show that had been created.
The children and staff thought this was one of the best shows yet for Christmas.

Year 6 have been working alongside Local Veterans to immerse themselves in the understanding of what Remembrance is all about and why this is so important to our services.
The children made some creative and inspired pieces from the stories heard from the veterans before attending a local service sharing their artwork and joining the veterans for lunch at Avondale house.
The children have been respectful and reflective throughout this project and we are very proud of how they supported all those who have fallen for us and a better world.
The mini-cadets joined the memorial Service on Sunday to support the local community and as a school we took a minutes silence and held an assembly on Remembrance and Peace.
Please donate if you can. Any help is much appreciated and we will be organising an event to ensure all coats are donated back into our community ahead of the winter.

As part of the competition last Summer term, our school entered into the young gardener grow you own category.
Byker Primary School has been recognised as a school of Sanctuary for 2023 and we now have our award. Our application was submitted to a Panel in the Summer Term and we received this award alongside 5 other schools from Newcastle this week at the Great North Museum.

For many, the district of Byker is best known for 90s TV nostalgia and as the launching pad for Ant and Dec. Now, however, it may be the genesis of cricket's next superstar.
